NTR Government Degree College, Valmikipuram was established in the Year 1988 with the sincere efforts of the then MLA Sri. Chintala Ramachandra Reddy Garu and with the blessings of the late Chief Minister, Dr. N T Rama Rao, has been in its current premises since August, 2000.

 

The College coversa campus area of 4.51 acres on the National Highway 205 (Madanapalli-Tirupati Road) which is the eastern entrance of the Valmikipuram town. The college is just one Kilo meter away from the Railway Station and is surrounded by beautiful hills, lush greenery all round, and is located in an ideal environment as it is separated from the humdrum of the national highway by the Sub-Court buildings.  Institution has separate science labs, computer labs, three digital class rooms, one virtual class room, Gymnasium for boys and Jawahar Knowledge centre etc for the benefit of the students. The college is imparting education to the most economically backward students who come from villages and most of them are first generation learners. A major portion of these students are from scheduled castes (SC), Schedule Tribes (ST), Backward Classes (BC) and Muslim Minority students. NTR Government Degree College is a co-education institution, devoid of menaces like ragging and eve-teasing. Since its inception, the college has been fostering quality education that inculcates ethical and moral values among students with emphasis on inculcating Global Competencies in them. The College has been catering to the needs of students who come from rural area. A very good number of Alumni of the college are well placed in life as educationists, software engineers, police and defense personnel, lawyers and administrators in different departments of the State and Central Governments. The college is reaccredited with B-grade (CGPA 2.41) in 2015.
